Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Whitehouse wanted to be a dentist for as long as she can remember. She had the same dentist her entire childhood, and she took less than ideal care of her teeth growing up, so she became very familiar with dentistry at an early age. Because her dentist was so compassionate and non-threatening, the dental office was not a scary place for her. Today, she has extensive work that needs regular maintenance and additional care. This makes her a compassionate provider who can relate to patients and allows her to explain and manage their dental needs in a nonjudgmental way.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Whitehouse received her Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Western Kentucky University, and then she earned her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry (which is considered to be one of the top dental programs in the US).

She currently attends the prestigious Kois Center (an advanced graduate program for practicing general dentists) and completes as many hours of continuing education as her schedule will allow. She is also a certified Invisalign provider and a member of the Texas Dental Association and American Dental Association.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Whitehouse and her husband, Andrew, have a young son as well as a daughter on the way, so spending time with her growing family is her biggest priority outside of dentistry. When she can, she likes to travel so she can learn about new cultures firsthand, plus she often takes trips to provide dental care to underserved areas in the US. To relax, she loves a good puzzle or board game, and she also enjoys watching documentaries.
